Global Opportunities Support Officer (Turing Scheme)

Job Description

A graduate is sought to support the Global Opportunities Team at the University of Exeter. The main responsibility of the role will be providing administrative support for the Turing Scheme along with supporting other student-centered activity. This role is a mix of remote and in the workplace working (based on the Streatham Campus in Exeter) and is available immediately for 12 months as part of the Graduate Business Partnerships Scheme.

The Global Opportunities Team is based within the Student Employability and Academic Success division at the University of Exeter. The Global Opportunities Team supports students with their Year Abroad, whether this is a Study and/or Work experience or a Short Programme.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose of Role
A Graduate Business Partner (GBP) is required to aid with the administration of the Turing Scheme. The Turing Scheme has been introduced to support students with their mobility abroad. More information can be found here - https://www.turing-scheme.org.uk/ .
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Be the stakeholder contact for the University of Exeter's Turing Scheme administration
  • Advise, steer and guide students on the administration of their Turing Scheme paperwork
  • Hold 1:1 appointments with students and staff on Turing Scheme administration
  • Provide general and specialist administrative support with a full understanding of the relevant Global Opportunities
  • Plan and organise events with guidance and support from managers, generally over a short-term period representing the Directorate as required. Provide information for marketing and other purposes.
  • Continuously improve the student experience of semester and longer-term outbound students at Exeter where appropriate to the role, and in support of College or Directorate objectives. Support new ways of working, training others as required and ensuring a comparable student experience across all campuses and Colleges as relevant to role.
  • Participate in relevant working groups as required, proactively contributing, and reporting progress on agreed actions.
  • Use systems and software effectively and efficiently, adhering to any relevant compliance and undertaking training as offered and required.
  • Collate, monitor, analyse and interpret data providing written recommendations and summaries to stakeholders. Proactively identify issues and undertake corrective actions as required.
  • Accountability/responsibility for discrete areas of work, as delegated by your line manager or other senior stakeholders.
  • Lead administration on applications and nominations for students undertaking a semester or year-long mobility
  • Organise and coordinate regional pre-departure sessions for students undertaking a global mobility
  • Carry out day to day planning, coordination, preparation and practical implementation of projects and new initiatives to support the University's objectives for the promotion of global mobility
  • To deliver a friendly, customer-focused student support function
  • Develop and enhance the provision of information, advice and guidance for students, colleagues, and partners, including development of the Global Opportunities web pages
  • Support Global Opportunities social media platforms
Training and Development
The university offers online and in-person learning and development opportunities, including mandatory online training in Prevent Duty - Inclusive, Cohesive and Safe Universities ; Equality and Diversity Introduction ; Health and Safety Introduction and Information Governance .
Level of Support
GBPs are offered 1:1 support from the Internships Team and their line manager.

Degree and Attainment
  • Degree from a UK University in the last 3 years
Skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in-person, in-writing, and email, and by telephone with a diverse range of people.
  • Ability or understanding of confidentiality practices and legal requirements under the GDPR.
  • Excellent IT skills including proficiency in MS office (especially, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and web-based programmes

GBP Scheme Requirements
  • To be eligible to apply and undertake a GBP role the graduate must meet all of the following criteria:
  • Achieved* (or about to achieve) a full undergraduate degree (or Masters or PhD).
  • Graduated in the UK within the last 3 years of your most recent degree (we will consider extenuating circumstances of potential applicants that may have prevented them from undertaking a graduate role within 3 years of graduation). * Please see above for additional requirements
  • Attended a British university (or spent time studying at a UK university through ERASMUS)

  • All graduates need to reside in the UK whilst undertaking this role.
  • Applicants cannot undertake another GBP role if the contract length in total exceeds the maximum duration of 23 months working as a GBP.
* To undertake a GBP role applicants must achieve their degree. In the unlikely scenario where a degree is not awarded, the GBP hours may be reduced to 15hrs a week (for undergraduates) or 6hrs a week (for postgraduates) to enable to the graduand the capacity to successfully complete their degree. If the graduand fails their degree the GBP role will end early
